A recent digital work on CS2. I love Rat Rod culture. This image was inspired by WWII aircraft and some work I’ve seen recently that develops USAF themes on Hot Rods.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

    Nathan,
Yeah, i must confess this one did take quite a while to complete. Too long!

    mcs80,
It was sketched straight out on the computer as a real rough sketch using Photoshop and a wacom tablet. Then gradually coloured and rendered one area at a time. This process was a mixture of slow and detailed airbrushing, combined with loosely painted brush work. It eventually took a lot longer than i had intended – i actually started out with the intent of doing a real “loose” concept image of a RAT, but i gradually got more and more focused on details etc. (a bad habit of mine!).

Any further questions, just let me know. Cheers!

Fabulous stuff, very inspirational. All the respect to those that can take pen/pencil/chalk/paint to paper or canvas and produce such wonderful art. Thanks so much for sharing the fruits of your talents.

Such great touches on the details, very consistent design! I recently aquired a weird program with the distinct idea of creating some ground vehicles and space runabouts in 3D, it’s called Groboto, and HERE is my first attempt. Rims, tires, body are done in Strata3D, other parts Groboto, assembled and rendered in Vue Esprit. Would love to see more of your autos!!
