Getting older, and I’d like to think a little wiser. Been a painter, poet, writer, and composer for as long as I can remember. I’m now legally blind, which does produce some interesting effects, but is mainly just a pain. I now live alone in the bush which has its freedoms; but I do suffer from aloneness. Sometimes I can go for weeks with my only conversations being with myself, or either of my cats, Edmund and Isis. Used to think I was a great artist, and in consequence suffered the angst of believing I was not receiving the recognition I thought I deserved. I now realize that what I do is all that I can do, and that revelation has lifted enormous pressure from me, and I’m finally comfortable knowing my limitations and working within them. Don’t enjoy life very much, but fear Death too greatly to want it all to end. She/He will come unwanted and unheeded soon enough, and there is so much yet to do. Lament!

An Apology, Perhaps

I feel the need to justify the artworks I show and the writings I submit. It’s puzzling to many why I seem incapable of painting pretty pictures. For years I have listened to my peers and those of my family members who still communicate with me, and I’m constantly having to patiently explain that I have to enjoy what I do, and that painting a landscape or whatever that will only be se…

Proposed Government Internet Filtering and its affect on the Arts Community

Oh Dear oh Dear: Another and larger witch hunt! / I’m extremely concerned by the actions of Australia’s Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator the Hon Stephen Conroy and the proposed mandatory filtering of Australian internet services at the internet service provider (ISP) so I am posting something about it. / There is heaps of information online about why this is…
