This quick portrait of Red Bubble Artist Raphael Sabu was done in India Ink on Canson Paper 25 cm x 35 cm when he visited me in 2007 at my studio the night before he was to work before a crowd of 1,200 people at the Festival at Port Adelaide. His demonstration consisted of painting some huge works, and he gained a lot of publicity, notoriety, and comments. He has some very strange things on RB now, and for some reason is not showing any of his other fabulous works. They can possibly be seen on his Website which states ‘Creativity – It’s not just a hobby, it’s a way of life’ or will turn up in internet searches. We’ve exhibited together, and I’ve actually been in a Gallery and seen his work sell a few minutes after being put on display. And not just once! I do know he’s busy with University, and has moved more into his chosen field of creative writing, and does Web Design, and is on several boards, but personally I wish he’s show more of his great paintings on Red Bubble. His profile simply states ‘I need to create’ and as long as I have known him this is the way he’s been, even though I admit I can’t often understand where he’s coming from. Good Luck Raph, whatever you’re up to. Sorry old chap, as it’s not a very good portrait, but you’re hard to capture when you’re agitated, and I was probably off my face at the time. However, anybody who knows you will recognise you.
