Portrait of Andrew Sibley Judging an Exhibition by

This is not a very flattering portrait of Andrew Sibley but for a quick sketch, ( done on acid free mat board 25 cm x 33 cm) executed with a soft brush and India Ink and wash I was quite pleased with it. Done when Andrew – please excuse the name dropping, was judging an exhibition of abstract art on the south coast of NSW. It’s not really a caricature, probably more of a cartoon, but it is his Portrait, though I did for some reason give him a Mohawk haircut which I hope doesn’t offend him. He did remind me of someone like an seer, as he was gazing intently at a piece of Art, and that’s what I tried to capture. I didn’t win the competition, but that was my own fault, and not Andrew’s, as my work at the time was mediocre at best. Thanks for looking.

He was known to be a little strange at times. I have a large oil painting in mind which requires a lot of red paint, and at the price it is I wonder myself if there is something like gold in it. I have purchased some large tubes ( 170 ml ) of permanent red manufactured by Mont Marte, which is a brand I’m not familiar with, but it was reasonably priced, so I’m hoping it will be Ok. Thank you for your comment on my work. Very much appreciated. Peter
