Here is another of my Creative Paintings, this time of Ironbridge. This was the first bridge in the world to be built of Iron, as an advertisement for his skill by Abraham Darby, in the Severn Gorge. There was no such thing as a nut or a bolt when it was built, and so all the joints copy timber joints, using wedges, mortice & tenon etc.
After 200 years, the bridge still stands firm, but is closed now to motor traffic. Only tourists in their thousands walk across it to marvel at the ingenuity of the first forge-masters.
