Another of my Creative Paintings, this time of New Bridge, Dartmoor. The bridge is only relatively new, being built in 1500 or so, to replace an earlier granite bridge, built a thousand years before. The little river is, of course, the Dart, running down to the sea at Dartmouth. This spot is a magnet for tourists and pic-nickers, as there is plenty of room to park a car, a safe area for families with children, lovely views & walks, and, of course, an ice-cream van. As the bridge is only single-track, it is best not to wait until everyone is heading home for tea, as the queue to pass over the bridge can be quite long, at times! My wife, Maureen, is patiently posing for me, as she knows how important it is to have a figure in the right place in one’s painting.
