Today’s work a bit rough around the edges yet it gives a sort of wind blown quality..its a painting of the view looking south west of the Isle of Arran and Little Cumbrae from Great Cumbrae. The title obviously a reference to Bach’s cantata. with its incomparable tune and its because I was fascinated to see sheep grazing on little ledges several hundreds of feet above the sea but well beyond the fence lines on the cliffs above Durness., where people would not dare to go. The cliffs on Cumbrae aren’t that high actually.
