Hello, it’s been a while since I’ve updated the profile, so here I go.
I’m a Merchant Mariner, and my interest is predominantly marine photography, but I don’t limit myself to that subject.
I also like to photograph the Australian bush, especially rivers, lakes and waterfalls.
I own 4 cameras, one Pentax K10D, a Pentax K100D (broken at present), A canon compact, powershot SX 100 IS, and a compact underwater camera for seagoing shots where getting moist is an issue. I used to own a Pentax IST/DL.
Currently I’m working on the North West shelf on a oil rig tender called the OMS Terra Nova. We work out of Dampier Western Australia, and Exmouth WA. My little boat services the floating offshore oil production facility MV Stybarrow Venture, and we facilitate the transfer of crude oil from the facility to offtake tankers. We also resupply the facility with its food, fuel and spares.
Exmouth is a dry, windblown area at Northwest Cape, half way up the West Australian coast from Perth, about 2 hrs by plane away. It is famous for it’s Ningaloo Reef, dolphins, whale watching, and seafood, as well as the American military low frequency radio station Harold E Holt.
I live in Melbourne, but have lived in Tasmania, and Sydney. My travels have taken me to Antarctica, Peru, Chile, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Thailand, Philipines, Malaysia, Brunei, USA, and the Caribbean islands of St Lucia and Aruba. i’ve circumnavigated Australia more times than I care to think about, lol.
