Tilt

Some may disagree, but there are some shots a Lensbaby has to give way to true tilt+shift. This single RAW image has not been manipulated or played with in Photoshop et al. What you see is what I got, over 220 seconds using my previously-neglected 24mm f3.5L tilt+shift lens on the Canon 5D Mark II. Shot at the same spot on the same day as Eternal Watershine Of The Spotless Kind, deep in the Valley of the Waters, Blue Mountains National Park.

Great shot peter, i don’t think i would have enough use for one though…

Thanks mate, don’t forget the 24mm tilt+shift is one of the best prime lenses Canon ever made. When used as such it outshines even the 24-70mm zoom at 24mm for corner sharpness. And wit much practice and careful composition, the tilt function can be used to achieve a landscape with pin sharpness through-out the focal range. It is a much unappreciated lens!

Love the disorientating feel to this Peter! I just saw that Canon has released a 17mm tilt/shift!!!! L quality too!

  • Peter Hill replied 20 days ago

Thanks Mel. Yes, I have been looking at the 17mm for a few months, and its reviews suggest it is the best t+s ever made. But the price tag is still too high for me and its aspherical, and you know what that means for filters – rear-mounting (not ideal). As it happens, I’ve just bought the Carl Zeiss Distagon 21mm f2.8 ZE prime and can’t wait to whack it onto the 5dmk2. It’s made of 100% metal and glass, and designed for F-F, and is claimed to have no distortion or vignetting.

yeah, the rear filters are a pain, for sure….like the sound of that Zeiss!
