This is an image to get lost in… just stare in and in and in and in and…..
(Coastal Platform Productions must be a new outfit – never heard of them before… though – they certainly have some great talent on their books…)

  • Peter Hill replied

Thanks Kallena. Coastal Platform Productions have offices everywhere, but mainly in beachside areas!

By the way Peter (delete this if you want) – there are so so many reasons why this image shouldn’t ‘work’ (compositionally, colour wise etc etc) – but, no matter what you do ‘not right’ – IT STILL WORKS!!!

  • Peter Hill replied

Ah ah ah! Can’t have it both ways!! The colour is all wrong because you can’t shoot timelapse, esp 70+ seconds in broad daylight! No way. And yes, a rock is a rock, but at least it’s not front and centre. The horizon? nuh, it’s dead middle. Could be the vertical versus the horizontal, though. Hmmmm

Love the way this works – don’t know if I can excplain it – the meeting of the reflected clouds should put the eye right smack into the middle and make this awkward, but the addition of the rock keeps the focus down to the bottom third, and the expanse of blue sky somehow balances the dark foreground … I tried rolling the screen to crop the top of the sky and it lost appeal for me. Clever boy!

  • Peter Hill replied

Hi Rosalie! Yes it is a bit of a oddity and I would have preferred more interest, so hence the emphasis on the reflection.
