Very nice use of long exposure in this shot. Well done

  • Peter Hill replied

Thanks Lance. It was a challenge, and it was tempted to cut it short. There was a howling gale blowing and I had to lean over the camera to act as a windbreak.

  • Lorraine Creagh

My favourite part of this shot is the lighting of the sky behind the city. I love the long exposure. Works so well.

  • Peter Hill replied

Thanks Lorraine. I envisaged this shot while curled up in bed at 6am listening to a howling gale outside and deciding not to go to the RB Cockatoo Island shoot as a result.

  • PeterBusser

Nice job on the front page Peter :)

Looks on front page: “That’s a Peter Hill photo”. clicks
    And sure enough it is.

I still love this one and am currently looking at buying myself the black glass. My only issue is u’m not sure if I should get it for my wide, or my 18-200.

  • Peter Hill replied

    Thanks Tim!
The price for the black glass varies considerably in terms of supplier and diameter. The smaller the diameter the cheaper. The Tamron 10-24mm has a 77mm diameter, whereas the 18-200mm has a 72mm diameter.

Eventually we will bump into each other at this, my favourite place in Sydney. Each time I am there (and this applies to most places) it will look different and never cease to remind me why Sydney is the best place on earth. It helps, of course that I live close by.
This has all the elements that make a superb image; the perfectly balanced composition; atmospheric exposure; and of course the choice of subject. For the view alone makes it worth returning again and again. Superb work.

  • Peter Hill replied

Thanks Robert – I’ll keep an eye out for you next time I’m there!
