The foreground shadow is from the rock overhang, the sun was high directly behind it. The dark clouds at the top were from a misplaced Grad ND, but I think it adds a sense of balance. The remainder of the scene was in bright sunshine. There are many yachts in the frame, btw. You just can’t see them anymore given the timelapse.

Fantastic !!!
Peter Hill replied
thanks Kathy!
Mark Tull
Awesome
Peter Hill replied
Hey Mark, thanks
Garth Smith
I love the lead in rocks leading into the composition Peter and the green sunlit water is great and its a great skyline too.
Peter Hill replied
Thanks Garth – finally found some “foreground interest” at Bradleys Head, courtesy of the stone jetty being closed off for safety reasons
SNAPPYDAVE
brilliant
Peter Hill replied
thanks Dave
Andrew Murrell
I think I perfer the B&W image but this is still fantastic!!. the green of the water is amazing. It looks straight out an episode of Doctor Who
Peter Hill replied
LOL, Doctor Who… Bright sunlight will do the green for Sydney Harbour in the shallows, no doubt about it

I was just wondering if I was weird for thinking that this shot – though I totally agree about the ND grad filter over the top of the sky – has a sense of something ‘weird’ about it…. then I saw the above comment…
I think there will be those who absolutely LOVE this – but I prefer the b&w too :)
LOVE your ‘experimentation Peter! Maybe one day I’ll get a chance to learn how too… what a dream :)))
Peter Hill replied
I’m still learning myself Kallena, and stuffing up big time in the process. You just don’t get to see most of those! And then I do something and I get that “Wow” feeling. It keeps me going. Much thanks!
Denis Molodkin

I noticed above you mentioned to check out Mel Brackstone – I have and I totally agree with you! I’m watching and learning from her big time too :)))
Peter Hill replied
I have bragging rights though over getting the Black Glass before her! But soon she will get her second camera back from the US and being converted to infra red, then I’m in trouble. I got my 10D done last month, but she’s just had a full-frame 5D done!

Peter, love this one. The colour, the smoothness of the water (due to the timelapse) and the comp. Super job. Well done. An instant fave.
Peter Hill replied
thanks again Elana, and sorry for the late reply.
Eva and Klaus ...
Truly superb Peter!
I admire very much how you use “tools” to enhance your image and, eventhought this shot has an “other worldly” feel to it, you havenĀ“t overdone it in the slightest. I really like the contrast of blur and muted colours in the lower half to the sharp, sunlit and crisp city scene.
And I like your modesty too. Not only do you take the time to reply to comments, you also have no problem mentioning all the work we never get to see. It takes self-confidence to do that and is very encouraging!
Peter Hill replied
Oooh, but sometimes I can be very late in my replies! Sorry :)
I appreciate greatly your feedback! You mention blur and crisp, and absolutely I am trying to get a fast moving cloud heavy sky above some expanse of water with some fixed points on interest as a means of really pushing the contrast to extreme. I just need Sydney’s beautiful weather to be not so beautiful just for once!
Sue Nueckel
BEAUTIFUL work!!!!!
Peter Hill replied
thanks Sue!
