Cora Wandel
WOW! This is a remarkable capture, I can just imagine the feeling I would have standing in this valley of mist. Incredible. – Cora
Peter Hill replied
thanks kindly, Cora. We had been shooting deep in the valley for a few eyes, occasionally looking up at the fog and wondering if it would lift. Then we ascended the steep track back up and could feel the cool air escaping up with us!
Bob Fox
Very nice! Good movement. Really looks ‘live’! What size is the polarizing filter for your new wide angle? Is it pretty big? Maybe I’m thinking of fish eye wide…
Peter Hill replied
Hi Robert. Both the new lenses – the 10-20mm and the 50mm f1.4 – take 77mm filters. Huge!
tasadam

riverotter
Brilliant work Peter! Must have been striking to be there in person.
Peter Hill replied
Thanks again Emily! We had just hiked back up to this lookout from the valley below, including 5 sets of staircases bolted to the cliff, carrying tripods and all. The air was still, crisp, and silent. then this moving wall of mist was rising up in front. To the right of frame the valley stretched for miles and miles. We just couldn’t see it!
John Shortt-Smith
Wonderful. Took my breath away – my kind of place…
Peter Hill replied
thanks John for that feedback!

Just beautiful Peter! Brilliantly captured. Taking a trip to the Blue Mountains in March, so here’s hoping….
Peter Hill replied
Thanks again bevan. March is a good time for BM, especially Blackheath and the autumn leaves, and the nearby Govetts Leap. Find the Conservatory Hut on the cliff at Wentworth Falls. This shot was taklen just a 100 metres away, then you can walk down the track to the Valley of The Waters and you’ll be in waterfall Central!
Catherine Davis
Never too late! I love how you have beautiful warm colours in the fog, just lovely. Fog shots are often grey and cold but this has great warmth. It is often foggy here but still warm and just beautiful and you have caught that perfectly!
Peter Hill replied
you are very kind Catherine, thank you. I have this shot hanging in my office. It is one of my personal favourites so I am glad you like ti so much too!

thank you for telling how to achieve such a beautiful capture!
an instant fave :O))
p.s. thanks for the fave on my work Night Reflections really appreciated
Peter Hill replied
thanks Rosy. I really see no problem with writing about what I did to achieve my results, and it gives something back from all the stuff I’ve learnt from others on RB. This is a special place for me, and I’ll be back there at dawn on sunday morning to go down the valley to shoot some favourite waterfalls after several days of rain.
Rosy Kueng
Woow…I’m looking forward to see them! I love waterfalls and foggy captures…
talk to you later :O))

Hi Peter
Your shots of the Blue Mountains are just brilliant. Did you take these early morning?(...cause i aint a morning person but your shots are too inspiring so i might change my ways!! :-)
thanks
paul
Peter Hill replied
thanks mate for the feedback and nice comment. Yep, most of my BM shots are around dawn, with the ones in the valleys with all the shade happening no later than around noon. I live about an hour’s drive from Wentworth Falls, so some early starts! Last Saturday I got out of the car up there at 6.30am and it was 1 degree. Had to put a damn shirt over my Tee. Getting a tad nippy.
DJ LeMay
