Urban Lines Project - Yellow Rain
I keep coming back to this building at Jacksons Landing in Pyrmont, Sydney. The shiny yellow facade stretches for miles into the sky. Seemingly. It certainly stretches several floor levels above the roof on two opposite sides. It beckons the lens upwards, but on this day raindrops obviated that perspective, and I found myself instead hovering under a sort of awning at the building’s base and looking horizontally ….
Canon EOS 10D with Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM lens, ISO 100, 1/1000 sec at f1.4.
Best viewed as large as bloody possible. Spot the raindrops.

You’ve got a great eye for these sorts of things Peter! I wish I had the time and opportunity to get out and try shots like this!
Peter Hill replied
Thank you kindly Sam. And I hereby grant your wish – I shot this while on a walk during my lunchbreak from my day job. Get fit and shoot whatever. Can’t beat it! On this day I was a bit more driven, I admit. I had acquired the 50mm the day before and was really giving it a workout.

Powerful work, Peter.
I counted til 7 and then left…................. :D
Peter Hill replied
Ha! I counted 7 too so there you go. Thanks for the feedback too, Prasad, much appreciated.
SeanOlio
Great shot Peter – well spotted and composed!
Peter Hill replied
Thanks Sean! I had to be a little patient though ….
Juilee Pryor
this is pretty wild Peter…. I love it to bits… so painterly…. nice
Peter Hill replied
thanks Juilee. Lenswise I am in hog heaven right now. The fixed focal length is forcing me to better compose, which was exactly my aim as zooms were making me lazy, and 50mm allows me to shoot what I see, if you know what I mean. :)
Cora Wandel
Peter, this is remarkable, love the lines and the YELLOW and yes, I see raindrops. It is abstract and modern and I love seeing photographs that represent this style. – Cora
Peter Hill replied
I am really chuffed you like this style, Cora, and thank you very much for the feedback! :)

Love it – strong colors and lines. Excellent
Peter Hill replied
thanks Marguerite. (I am sitting in my office. It is 1.30pm and 37 degrees outside (100F). I am covered in sweat as I just got back from shooting THAT bridge again, this time a proper wide angle shoot.)

I like this minimalism, and elegant as well.
Peter Hill replied
thanks again, Erwin. coincidentally, I re-shot this building about 30 minutes ago. This time in the early morning light and a 10-20mm.
