Cage Tunnel
Cage Tunnel was shot at the footbridge across the M2 motorway at Beecroft in Sydney. The work is a photomerge of one image, which I shot in RAW using a tripod-mounted Canon EOS 10D with an EF 70-300mm DO IS zoom lens at 115mm, ISO 400, 3 secs at f19, AWB, available light (outside fluorescent). The image was shot from the left of the footbridge focusing on the right hand side.

In Photoshop I firstly created a second image (being the original flipped horizontally), then photomerged the two images into one to give the whole “tunnel effect”. The colouring was not touched, and the final image is uncropped, but I sharpened the merged result, applied a tiny bit of zoom radial blur (2%) to take the edge off the reflected light on the foreground steel mesh, then applied the Orton Effect with a 60% fill at 100% opacity.
Normally I strive to shoot what I want to eventually see, but I am proud of this work more than others because I shot with intent to produce this very outcome and it bloody worked.
