Holy Moses! What a shot!! SO gorgeous and majestic!!! And are those stairs the ONLY way to get up there? lol What a magnificent scene!!! Such excellent work Peter!!! : )
Thanks Stephanie. It is a fabulous place. The steps are a fairly recent addition. The original way to get up was by a rope hanging down from the top and the whole monastery was built using that simple mechanism. The modern way for the monks to get there is by a chairlift and you can see the cables on the top left.

Thanks Fran. No I took this from another hill some distance away. No chairlifts around Meteora other than the private ones giving the monks access without having to climb.
