It obviously followed the X-1 (high altitude, extreme speed experimental aircraft dumped from a mother plane before ‘rocketing’ off into the wide blue yonder. (Pilots must have had some serious gumption!)

I believe this MAYBE a movie prop used in a film with Clint Eastwood… I wish I had paid closer attention and knocked on the fuselage… MAYBE it was the real thing????

After some chat here I have started to search online to connect the pilots name with the program but no luck so far.. Off to Wikipedia aren’t you!

  • Thanks Daniel for the info… You have jolted a memory perhaps and one I should google i guess… Was this a program Chuck Yeager was involved in?

Nice upclose shot, I see the pilot’s name is below the canopy!
    Cheers Neil

  • Well it just gets intriguing… I believe the plane was a prop in ‘Space Cowboys’ directed by Clint Eastwood (2000). I did search for the pilots name but so far no result that makes any direct sense… This is really going to bug me now!
