Practising with studio flash heads is a fun thing to do. Learning to control the light, trying different set ups and applying some post processing. Love it! I don’t want others to get bored with my trial and error method, so I asked myself to be my model (that’s sounds to good, if you ask me…). And I agreed. See here for one of the results.

As this is a relatively new part of photgraphy, let me know what you think. Composition, lighting, processing, presentation… Share your thoughts and critic. It’s much appreciated!

Excellent work, great high key setup! No loss of detail, good focus on the eyes. Love that little smile of yours! Good job, Peter!

  • Was I a bit scary because the result might be published? Don’t know… thanks for your comment, Johanne! Knowing you’re into portraiture it means a lot to me. Thanks!

Beautiful work Peter! I can just see you asking yourself to be model…lol! I agree with Jo…you’ve retained the detail nicely :)

  • It was hard work convincing myself :-). Appreciate your comment, Ursula. Will do some more trials shortly. Someone I recently met asked me to create some portraits of her. What an honour!

I cannot offer any critique as I have not adventured into high key/lighting portraiture Peter. However, I can say with confidence, this is a warming self portrait, you’ve got a great smile going on and most importantly laughter in your eyes :)

  • Ah, that’s lovely to read. Thank you my dear Alix!
