The goodness of RedBubble

Julie Langford wrote a poem celebrating the recent birth of Emma Kate. It was the most touching poem – it brought tears to my eyes. Thanks Julie. My wife keeps re-reading it … and each time she ends up in tears. The thing is that I’ve only met Julie through RedBubble. In fact, before Julie wrote the poem I had only seen her activity on the site from afar (it’s hard to keep up with everyone). Here is a person who I’ve never met in person … who lives on the other side of the world from me … and she’s touched my life. Awesome. A little bit of love has traversed the world. That’s worth celebrating. The poem is repeated here:

A moment to cherish has come your way
As precious hours passed that day
Where pain and endurance were pushed to their limit
And a miracle fought to emerge from within it
The waiting of the months gone by
Now time has arrived, you break, you cry
For tears of joy that you both feel
The greatest pain, with those, can heal
A tiny life, a precious gift
You look with awe, your hearts they lift
How could you know how this would feel
Your eyes fill up, your senses reel
Tiny neck hairs stand on end
With the instant notion to defend
You fill with a feeling like no other
That’s only felt by a Father and Mother
Her presence means life won’t be the same
Emma Kate is her name
Just as the sea has been given the pearl
You have been blessed, with this baby girl
Daughter to you, yours forever
A celebration of your love for each other
A little person to befriend
Amazement engulfs you as your family extends
Live for this moment, keep it close to your heart
Know from this child you will not be apart
Savour each minute in every way
For a miracle doesn’t come every

A beautiful, touching poem and a wonderful gift.
As recently as yesterday I too have been privy to the same generosity here at redbubble, from someone I have never met, but now consider a great friend. Definitely cause for celebration.

Wow – thank you Peter. I had no idea that it would touch you to this extent, but I am sure glad that it has spread some love through the world. I really don’t know how to say this bit, but your wife crying – tears of that kind – I hope they fill your hearts forever – there is no feeling quite like that.

Emma Kate, is so beautiful, a little angel, given to you to keep and cherish, to love and to care for – and I,m sure that she will get that from you and your lovely wife – she is blessed as are the both of you.

The poem is yours to keep Peter – copyright and ALL rights, to you, Kirsty and Emma – a gift from me and from everyone else here on Redbubble – it is all the RB members after all, who inspire me – so its their gift to you as well.

Exactly what I love about this site…. The chance to interact with people from afar and to view and share our art.
