Carpark
It’s been a while since I uploaded anything to RedBubble – life’s become too busy! I’m going to set myself a challenge of uploading at least one image a week from now on. Here’s my first effort: I was drawn to the tapered columns in this underground carpark.

Melbourne Uni?
The curves of the supports is so unusual. I like.
peter
Yep – it’s a very distinctive car park.

Gives me the carpark creeps! 1 hell of an image – great stuff

Mark German
This is seriously good, Peter. What a great sight to see.
Did you realise how it would turn out when you saw the scene? At times like this, I catch my breath in anticipation.
Great shot.
Robert Knapman
Very cool carpark shot – its both alive with action and deserted
georgiegirl
It has interesting lines… you don’t often see carparks with style! Mostly they’re square and boring… and full of lots of cars!
Paul Louis Vil...
Sure is distinctive! The “old” fashioned styling actually gives this area a bit of class! The low light capture adds a nice atmosphere to the piece!
helmutk
That is a cool shot great work
Michael Douglass
Grat image, strong in mood.
thickblackoutline
love the colours in this peter… there’s almost a rusty, gritty air about it…. when i’m sure its quite a nice car park ;)
mick8585

One image per week – that’s my goal as well Pete… This image is sensational…..! Such wonderful tones and underlying dark theme, which I love. This is a brilliant image Pete as it has classical painterly tones of colour, however, brings a message across of the modernity of life. Great work and wonderfully captured!
Brett Foster
Great image Peter. You’ve made into more than a carpark – keep expecting a scene from Dark City to materialise. Coool place and coool capture.
Ruth Palmer

Mundy Hackett
This reminds me of an Escher painting in a way, although not literally. The way the pillars sort of split the scene and mirror each other, but at varying depths in the frame really pulls you into the image. The light on the ceiling is perfect, bringing one right into the heart of this scene for a look around. Again nothing unique about the subject, but the way you composed the mundane and the way you added the interest by playing off of the repeating elegant patterns of the pillars makes for a pice of art!
studiofascino

My son was the page boy in a wedding & the bridal party had their photographs done, sadly all photos were taken in the parks not that they weren’t stunning but their photographer totally overlooked this fantastic emotional construction. Your angle enhances it even more XXXXX

Late comment I know, but …
This carpark is underneath South Lawn, in the main campus of the University of Melbourne. I was told on good authority (a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor) that above each of these tapered columns is a tree. The taper was specifically designed to allow each tree to develop a suitable root-ball to sustain it.
