There’s something about bamboo I’ve always loved. The way the stems grow so straight as well as their colour and texture… it almost doesn’t seem real.

After cutting down a bamboo plant in our garden, I trimmed all the sticks and stacked them in a pile so we could reuse them later on. I thought the opportunity to photograph them was too good to let go to waste.

This photo was taken in August 2012, on one of the few dry days we’ve had in our wettest summer on record!
