Day 362 of my ‘A Photo A Day’ project.
With the end of my project fast approaching I wanted to get one more art material photograph before it was too late! Everytime I dig out my box of art equipment I usually head for the colour pencils and crayons, but this time I wanted to go for the more simple black and white tones. I originally planned to shoot the box right up close, with only the sticks of chalk showing, going from dark to light. However, when I set my camera up on it’s tripod, I thought that leaving the edges of the box in would look much more interesting and abstract. I decided to have the point of light coming from the top right, so it would naturally illuminate the white chalks and cast less light on the black ones, adding to the tonal effect.
