Day 350 of my ‘A Photo A Day’ project.
The thing I love most about this project is how it’s opened my eyes to how beautiful and amazing the world really is! I don’t just mean different places around the world, but things right on your doorstep… things you overlook or never notice because they’re so small. This afternoon I was out in the garden with my camera taking various shots. Whilst I was round the side of our house I noticed a hoverfly gathering nectar from a rose plant. I took a few average shots of it on the flower until it decided to take off and hover a couple of feet above the plant. As it hovered there I decided to hold my hand out underneath it and slowly raise upwards. When I was a couple of inches away I could actually feel the draft from it’s wings, incredible! Such a tiny creature yet that amazing hovering action that keeps it in the air can actually be felt! It then decided it was going to land on my finger, to which I promptly took as many photos as I could! This was my favourite of the bunch and almost like it was meant to be my daily photo.
