Day 280 of my ‘A Photo A Day’ project.

I’ve been patiently waiting for the cherry blossom to appear and start to open… finally it has! This is the same tree as several previous photos, one of which is Day 272. I wanted to get underneath the tree, so that I could show the shear mass of blossom on the branches. I crouched down nice and low (which was a bit of a challenge as I’ve been playing football!) and focused on a bunch of flowers mid way up. I wanted to get the sense of depth and have blurred bunches at the front and back of the shot. I love the fact that this is looking directly upward… I think it gives much more atmosphere to the shot and makes you feel what it’s like to stand underneath this amazing tree!

The annoying thing about being in a rented house at the moment is that I don’t have a garden…looking forward to having one so I can play around with photos like this again without getting funny looks for taking photos at the side of the road! really like the angle on this – you’re right that it gives it a lot more atmosphere

  • Thank you so much! I’m really greatful for all your comments :) I know exactly what you mean, I feel so much more comfortable in my own back garden… I feel like such an idiot taking macro shots in public!
