Kestrel
Photographed on the clifftops near Polzeath in Cornwall. The Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a common bird of prey often seen hovering above motorway verges looking for voles and mice. I had seen this one hovering over the cliffs and eventually it caught something and settled for a while. I was able to stalk it and get close enough to take this photograph without disturbing it.
Kestrel belongs to the following groups:
Birds Of Prey (3 per day) and The Birds Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints and Framed Prints

nice little Kestrel – the last one I saw was sitting on the bluebird box waiting for them to make a meal for him – beutiful colors and detail in this and the all over movement created by feather and rock texture is beautiful

Beautiful shot. Growing up my brother worked for the Raptor Center for the University of Minnesota. It seemed as if we had one of these in our house always – they were quite fun, but I didn’t like the job of feeding them…The males were always a little more tame than the females were.
Really great colors in this shot.
