Soldier waits on top of the Hill,
Cold Steel by his side.
The battle rages, down the Hill below,
Nowhere left to hide.
The fear of death, grips within his Heart,
The sweat pours down his face.
Grasps his Shield, to battle he will go,
He’s running out of pace.

Soldier of the line,
Who will you kill today.
The battle rages on,
Forever and a day.
Just one more day.

Holds aloft his sword of many deaths,
Strikes the killing blow.
With eyes of hate, he turns to kill again,
The blood begins to flow.
Soldier,soldier, time is running out,
Where are you gonna hide.
The mighty foe are coming up behind,
They’ve got you in their sights.

Soldier of the line,
You’ll be killed today.
The battle rages on,
Forever and a day.
Just one more day.

Soldier now your time has come at last,
You feel the thrust of steel.
Your life begins to flash before your eyes,
Nothing else is real.
Soldier waiting for your parting groan,
This really is the end.
Never more to battle, will you go.
Will never fight again.

Soldier of the line,
You were killed today.
The battle rages on,
Forever and a day.
Just one more day.

Forever and a Day.

This started off as a poem. But I decided to get out the Guitar, and put music to it.
