Beneath Blue Mountain Gums
A Tribute to the Beautiful Blue Mountains

A Contemporary Piece
Original Watercolour Work SOLD

Inspired by the Eucalyptus Trees that are responsible for the famous
“blue haze”
of the
Blue Mountains
NSW Australia

Not long ago, I was asked by an overseas artist whether I painted Gum Trees?
“Everyone there in Australia paints Gum Trees”
was the perception…

I don’t particularly like Gum Trees per se, perhaps because they are everywhere to be seen.

As they are so typically Australian I thought, I really shouldn’t take them for granted…
instead seeing the beauty within.

So whilst conversing with this person about our Aussie Gums,
I began to sketch out the beginnings of what you see as my
completed watercolour above.

Hope you like this different take on the
“humble gum”

oh so funny me too thought like them….. may be you can turn it and list it that way too….. but as for the gum tree had no idea that everybody draw it in Australia, we learn somethng new every day…..
as for your painting it is stunning, amazing you used such a lovely colors. xoxoxooxox

  • I laughed too when Giotto commented first, as this was mentioned also to me when I first completed it.

I couldn’t change the title now as I painted this as my tribute to the Blue Mountains which I adore, but the thought had crossed my mind! Not everyone draws or paints the gum tree. lol
    Thanks Hasmig.
