This was in the woods at Healey where i am working.

Have to disagree with Simon – this is lovely, and a super nest shot – that detail inside the beak is something Ive never seen/noticed before. I see you are in Spruce and Broadleaf woodland there – was this nest quite low down?

Thankyou so much Graeme, the nest was only 6 feet off the ground, we have only came across 3 other nests that are occupied but they are all much higher in the trees. The wood we are working is a private shooting estate.

Such a great image Michael! We hand-reared some baby blackbirds a few years ago and your picture reminds me of them with their mouths open waiting to be fed.
