There is laughter in the distance -
Merriment which sparkles on the evening air with love.
In my flat, there is also joy,
But the expression is silent.
My heart-beat is a belly-laugh,
Robust with the presence of peace.
Serenity in simple things.
There will always be war -
Out there, somewhere else,
Maybe even here someday.
But in my flat, there is peace and warmth.
Maybe I should invite everyone around for a cup of tea?
Where is the ache of time in this?
My stars are bouncing on the floor like dropped stones from a backgammon board.
I roll the dice and keep quiet,
Just waiting, just waiting…
Would you like a cup of tea?
