Here is my first attempt at poetry…hope you like!
Blood Red Rose
The orphan girl stared lonely,
at the one she could hold,
He loved the blood red roses,
but hers were white and cold
So she wondered to the garden,
In the middle of the night,
And asked the blood red roses-
“may I speak with you tonight?”
“I want to change the colour,
of my white rose, to a red”
“Well that my dear is dangerous”
The blood red roses said
The roses then fell silent,
A tear fell from her eye…
“You really want to win his love?”
“For that, my dear, you die”
“Press your breast upon the thorn,
A blood red rose, will then, be born…”
By dawn the girl stood staring,
at the rose she held so tight,
And thought about the one she loved,
In the middle of the night
She handed the blood red rose to him,
then fell..her eyes grew dim…
This man, he did not understand,
what it is to be alone….
So he threw her blood red rose away,
onto the cobblestone.

Thankyou guys! I once read a story as a girl, by a great writer named Oscar Wilde. He told a story about a girl similar to mine….so I turned it into a poem, the story by Oscar Wild is VERY long winded!

This is wonderful Penny! I really like the rhythm and pacing of it, and very easy to read. The story is cool; sad and romantic. I like it that you’ve critiqued Oscar Wilde :)
(there’s a typo in your tags that might stop this being found, and adding ‘poem’ could help too)
