Thanks Dave…this is my cat sheba!

My cat Mao can be seen in my photo. We called him Mao so he wouldn’t have any problems pronouncing his name :-) My daughter’s cat actually, but we all live in the same house. What brand of coloured pencils do you use? Quality seems to vary. I tried to sharpen a new coloured pencil the other day and it split vertically straight down the length! They cost me £1.20 each, so I hope they don’t all split.

I use derwent pencils….this particular drawing was done using derwent gaphic pencils, and others I use derwent artists. Make sure you buy a good quality sharpener…again, I use derwent.

fantastic Penny. I have never done a pencil drawing in colour. Do you have to use a special type of pencil?

Thanks peteall…the pencils I use are Derwent Artists or Derwent Graphic. I find the colour is alot brighter and easier to blend…hope this helps!

Hey Pen – Alyssa here – this one is gorgeous! I have 3 kitty cats at home now so this one appeals to me…. reminds me of the cats you used to have at ur home when we were kids. It’s so real and the eyes are deep – it really looks like it’s looking at me.
