On a hot afternoon these eles had found some water to drink and play in!
African eles are being poached at alarming rates – estimates last year were that anything from 38,000 up to 45,000 African eles were killed last year alone for their tusks!
The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List lists the African elephant ( Loxodonta africana) as vulnerable meaning they face a high risk of extinction in the medium term. Realisically if we do nothing, they will be extict in the wild by 2025 at the latest….
