My hobby is playing with 3d programs that allow you to create images for rendering. I have only been doing this for about 18 months and still have lots to learn. This image was totally created using Daz Studio and content created for Daz and Poser.

These are wonderful images … is there a story behind them? You should check out some of the work by Tom – he’s got an imagination you may enjoy.

Thanks Peter I’m glad you like them. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Tom. Tom’s work is great, I love the way he provides a story to go with the image. Sometimes I have stories behind my images, often though they are more about me experimenting with colour and composition to try and find an image that I like or to try a new technique in the program I’m using. Casting Auguries for example was about playing with the reflections that can be created using Daz. I’m still very new to using this type of program and still have lots to learn.

This image on the home page caught my eye and I just had to see the larger version. Excellent work Pendraia. I have been wanting to get into 3D for some time now, but the choice and cost of the programs have prevented me from making the leap. Did you look at a few before deciding, or was it the program used on a course you attended? I am keen, but need more info. so, if you have any free tips :) I am all ears. Thanks for the kind words Peter and Pendraia.

    Thanks Pilgrim and Tom,

Tom, the way I got into 3d initially was through creating textures for games and someone mentioned Poser and Daz which I checked out and haven’t done much modding since. : )
Daz Studio is a free program and is certainly easier to learn than Poser which you have to pay for. Poser has more features at the moment like dynamic cloth and hair and the faceroom but for a beginner Daz is a good place to start. This link will take you to their site
I would suggest you download Daz Studio and have a look at the freestuff and some of the forums over there to begin with. You need to be careful if you want to use it commercially that you check the licences with the freebies. Some allow for commercial usage on rendered images others say private and educational use only.

All of the items I used in the image above were purchased items with the exception of Victoria 3 which is free from Daz. However to use morphs and such you need to buy them from Daz.

I have created some textures for clothing models but despite having the programs haven’t found time to learn to actually model yet. That and learn how to use Bryce. : )
If you join Daz’s Platinum club you get some really good deals on their products. I picked up Bryce for $6 and it’s a lot dearer than that normally.
If you want to discuss this further I can be contacted via Daz Forums my user name there is Pendraia also. : )

    Pen : )

I love the sheer mermaid scales on the skin. Very delicate and romantic.

Two stunning mer women in one day! Such a treat, and perhaps a sign that I should finish Cruise Scarlet properly.
