Dunluce castle, County Antrim, Northern Ireland! It is first documented in the hands of the McQuillan family in 1513. The earliest features of the castle are two large drum towers about 9 metres (30 ft) in diameter on the eastern side, both relics of a stronghold built here by the McQuillans after they became lords of the Route.
The McQuillans were the Lords of Route from the late 13th century until they were displaced by the MacDonalds after losing two major battles against them during the mid and late-16th century! At one point the kitchen collapsed into the sea killing the staff, after this the owner refused to live at the castle! Camera canon 7D!

Oh, yes, how wonderful to see this. I had ancestors on my Mothers side of the family who lived there. I don’t remember the story very well and i don’t think I have anyone left to ask about it now.

It is in the most beautiful setting. I do love this, your treatment is beautiful !

  • Thank you very much Morag, glad you like this! Wow! I’d love to hear that story, argeologists unearthed the remains of an old Town called the town of Dunluce outside the castle, and believe over 1000 people lived there, they are still finding things to this day! Cheers Roy!
