Mossman Gorge

Artist's Description

I went to Mossman Gorge today. I waited purposely and didn’t go before the rain because I couldn’t see any point in going into the world’s most beautiful rain forest if it wasn’t raining. I wanted to go on an overcast day (best to photograph the green stuff) with some rain the day before and everything still wet and shiny. I almost got it right, it poured and thank heavens the Canon 5D MkIII camera is almost as waterproof as they say…. The rain forest was absolutely gorgeous, the greens brilliant and shiny wet, the weather warm and comfortable (and very wet) and the Aboriginal guides and staff were the most wonderful hard working people who clearly love their job and their country here and loved sharing their culture. But the rain got the better of me and my knee loved me so much I soaked it a bit in a hot bath afterwards – with a cold beer or two to help ease the pain… medicinal. I need to come back and spend more time with the greens and waters and trees and people…
