Something about this place in Rome, Italy, makes it a magnet for visitors and locals alike, the steps certainly make a natural resting spot, but there’s something more about it that’s hard to put a finger on.

!“The Spanish Steps (Italian: Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti) are a set of steps in Rome, Italy, climbing a steep slope between the Piazza di Spagna at the base and Piazza Trinità dei Monti, dominated by the Trinità dei Monti church at the top. The Scalinata is the widest staircase in Europe.
The monumental stairway of 138 steps was built with funds bequeathed by the French diplomat Étienne Gueffier, in 1723–1725, linking the Bourbon Spanish Embassy, and the Trinità dei Monti church that was under the patronage of the Bourbon kings of France, both located above — to the Holy See in Palazzo Monaldeschi located below. The stairway was designed by architects Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi.”

Must be an early morning shot Phil, usually not an empty spot to be seen. I can understand why it’s a drawing spot for the massives, there is something so warm and friendly about it. Nice overall image…Jules

I was rather on the early side, and as you guessed, as the morning wore on into afternoon you couldn’t find a spot to squat!
