In the Qutub complex in New Delhi, India, there stands a magnificent minaret built in 1199 and named after the Muslim conquering mughal, Qutb-Al-Din It heralds the triumph of Islam and was constructed with dismantled materials from Hindu and Jain shrines which once were on the site.
The Nakshi inscriptions include Quranic verses, accounts of the construction itself, and political statements of the greatness of the then rulers of India. it’s sand stone and marble create a blend of architectural beauty worthy of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and at 72.5 meters tall is the largest stone minaret in the world

Just a retired old guy who loves looking for an eclectic mix of subjects to photograph, from people, to places, to concepts, and enjoys all aspects of the hunt, the find, and the shot, plus dabbling in the post production.
