Since Aspen, Colorado, streets are over 7,000 feet above sea level, the thought that traveling north to Ashcroft puts you even higher is daunting. The wilderness area is home to the White River National Forest, and terrific cross country skiing acreage.
Also, one can take sleigh rides in the evening with the amazing Rockies night skies, jet black, punctuated by millions of diamond stars twinkling overhead.
The sleigh is drawn by two gigantic horses who know the way, bells jingling on harnesses.

An evening on a sleigh ride and back for a Hot Toddy to finish to evening would be a wonderful way to spend time with that special someone or friends…Jules

that’s exactly how we used it. There’s a restaurant in the wilderness, big fireplace, made out of huge logs, that’s a couple miles from the trail head, so a sleigh ride takes you there and back in that fabulous Colorado sky with no city lights anywhere to dim the beauty.

  • shulie, more than fun, a very special event unlike most other sleigh rides, the sky there is so black, and the stars incredible
