In Eastern China, a Grand Canal winds its way through the city of Tianjin, complete with gondola like boats for rides in the waterway.

Just a retired old guy who loves looking for an eclectic mix of subjects to photograph, from people, to places, to concepts, and enjoys all aspects of the hunt, the find, and the shot, plus dabbling in the post production.

    Great shot, Phil!!

  • Thanks Dana, this three week trip to China was an eye opener in everyday, from warmth and good humor of the people, to stark realization of the poverty and lack of individual liberties in a controlling government presence.

How was the odour along the water???

  • Larry,
I would report that it wasn’t so bad. I’ve had much smellier days in Venice than here.

Oh you managed to capture the “old side”, wonderful! I must share this with my father who grew up in Tianjin, when we returned in the 80s (over 30 years after he left), he was so dismayed. Wonderful shot.

  • Leyla,
thanks for your comment about this place and the image. Hope it brings memories back for your father.
