This pelican perched atop some pilings in Estero Bay, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Whenever I see one, I can’t help but think of the poem, often attributed to Ogden Nash, but that actually was the work of Dixon Lanier Merritt

I wonder if he’s thinking, “Funny humans have guns that don’t shoot! Good humans toss their caught fish to me.. Not only am I beautiful but I have them well trained. It’s great to be me!” Funny how that works, isn’t it? :-)
peteand they hang, or fly around those boats and docks where those hand outs occur…..his beak holds more than his belly can, but I’ll be damned if I know how the hell he can….
