Mark Anthony (83 BC-30 BC) is depicted as a fat man sitting in a chariot pulled by a team of three lions..with two gilded lion cubs underneath. The 1898 bronze sculpture by Arthur Strasser is set on a concrete base about 4-feet high. The work is adjacent to the Secession Building (an Art Museum) in Vienna.

The Pharaoh’s of Egypt trained Cheetah’s to hunt, but lions to harness? Hmm… Quite the statue, Phil.

consider what artists do to pique our minds and imaginations….the notion of how powerful one must be to tame lions to do this…..
