Vintage Sax

i walked around an outdoor art show today and was pleased to hear a melancholy sax playing familiar tunes. so I stopped to chat with the artist and we had a delightful conversation about his music, his life, and his sax. Turns out the sax is over thirty years old, and made by Yamaha. It maintains its tone, mellowness, and moody sound in his hands. it was owned originally by a friend of his, who when facing his own demise, put it in his friend’s hands for musical posterity.

Vintage Sax belongs to the following groups:

ah, I can just imagine the beautiful tone of this instrument!!! Your image is sharp, DOF perfect, reflections are beautiful, adding a richness with a patina from much use!!!! Lovely, Phil!!!!

to have seen it originally, the patina, tender aging, and ever so slight degradation of the brass was artful in itself. In his hands it sang woefully.

    thanks rosie,
this fellow was more senior in age than I by a lot, white pony tail, and stories of his times in wwII. turns out this sax belonged to his best friend who left for him to play when he passed away. Nice, huh?
