Pyrrhuloxia: Large cardinal-like finch with conspicuous red-tipped gray crest, gray head, back, upperparts, red-washed face, breast, and pale gray underparts. Dark gray wings with red edges on primaries. Tail is red. Thick yellow bill. Eats insects, larvae, seeds, fruits and berries.
I took this photo in Pearce, Arizona. Pearce is approximately 50 miles North of the Mexico border, and approximately 95 miles East, South East of Tuscon Arizona .

Thank you very much. I was so excited to see this bird for the first time. I was in Arizona in February and March and could not believe the aray of birds in Arizona. This bird is by far my favorite.

Thank You so much for you comment…This was my first and only encounter with this species of birds….My computer has done a horrible thing to me and deleted all of my photography for the last two years and I a, so thankful I loaded this to the Bubble other wise it would have been gone forever., I had approximately 20 or more photos of these birds in several different days, …
