Royal Show 2009 - Hide Of Hearing - First Placing
Excuse the unsolicited trumpet-blast, but I just received a letter from the Royal Agricultural and Horiticultural Society of South Australia to say that one of my photos got a First Placing in the 2009 Adelaide Show Photography Competition. Only a small B&W, but pretty happy about the result.

Royal Adelaide Show 2009
Thirty-ninth National Exhibition of Photography
First Place – Small Monochrome / Colour – Any Subject
Rhino ear in monochrome
Also accepted …no placing, just accepted for the show gallery …

Paul Thompson ...
Great news Cuz, what did you win?
Paul Thompson replied
My Bus-Fare to go down and pick up my photo after the Show is over. :-) The prize-money is tiny for the RAHS Show, but it is one of the comps on the national circuit and the first time I have ever entered a photo into a national comp. Also the first time I have come first in anything except speeding awards from the police department. :-o Just a bit of encouragement to press on really.
Thanks for your comment Cuz.
(You can claim the glory too mate, after all, I claim glory for all your good photos.)

Whooo hoooo! Pop the champers! Congratulations Paul
Paul Thompson replied
Thanks Sharon. Been a long time between drinks for me to get any recognition with any of my photos. Sort of lost my Fojo for quite a while and the standard of my stuff has fallen in a hole, so good to get a bit of a boost. Thanks again. Paul

Is the Show already on or do they do all the judging beforehand.
I was never a big fan of Black & White photography but now I often find myself saying things like ‘that would look so much better in b&w’ as it suits some styles more than others, this is certainly one of them.
Very good work.
Paul Thompson replied
Hi Tracy. Thanks for your comment. All the judging for the show takes place in the month or so before the show actually opens to the public. I think there are some things that are judged during the public exhibition period, but many of them are done weeks beforehand. Cheers Paul
Helen Lewis
Very pleased for you Mr T! You have done very well! You haven’t lost your Fojo, you have just been sharing yourself with the music as well, after a long period of abstinance. Just makes it trickier to juggle!
Paul Thompson replied
Thanks Helen. Oh I do need to get back in the photo groove. Need to work at it more.
