Copy of sculpted foot; sculpture: Samson slaying the Philistine.
I always had great difficulties whenever attempting to go draw such things as hands/feet; and, I’m afraid, that all of these difficulties remain just exactly the same…! The truth of the matter is, I just don’t have a ‘precision’ hand/eye…so, no matter how hard I try it’s NOT going to look exactly like what I’m copying; on top of all this is my lack of Patience to add in all of the necessary details; instead, I give up by trying to rush; and, even add in what’s not actually there; just to hurry up and get the drawing all over and done with, very quickly, indeed!
Why, for instance, was that foot so solid/so full…whereas, my drawing of it seems so completely lacking in actual substance/just merely empty?! I think, I ‘desperately’ NEED to go learn about such things as bones/muscles/veins; then, maybe, my drawings will get to fill out…; I also need to understand such things as light/shade/texture…but, then, again, do I have any of the necessary Patience to go learn…; somehow, I do very much doubt it?! Having sheer impatience is what tends to go hold me back the most…!!!
