Nextdoor neighbour cats/(1 of 2) -(240212)- digital photo by

Location: UK/London

Both my two nextdoor neighbour cats always come crawling between my own garden, and, theirs. As I’m learning to experiment with using my ‘new’ Fuji digital ‘bridge’ camera; I thought I’d practice taking a couple shots of them using the built-in zoom function. At the time, I really didn’t know in advance if the zoomed in pic would come out looking either crystal clear/or, fuzzy; actually, though, I felt really pleased to see it came out looking clear.

The first cat’s reaction to being photographed by my motorised zoom lens was to run; retreating away by moving very slowly and cautiously; whilst, all the time, watching me non stop.

The second cat’s reaction was virtually none. Instead, it hardly even moved a single muscle; apart from it’s eyes looking up to see exactly what’s going on. It seemed to me to be quite casuially saying, “hurry up quick, and, be done with your pics; so that I can get to return back to my previous undisturbed sleep.”

Well and perfect my good man, love this, cats look beautiful all goodness, Norma-jean.

  • Thanks! ;-) I started out using a normal digital ‘compact’ camera with retractable lens that you can slip into your coat/or, trouser pocket; but, they usually come with just 5 x zoom. However, later on, I switched to using a digital ‘bridge’ camera with fixed lens; it’s too big to stick inside of your pocket; so, instead, you have to carry it inside of a bag. However, the advantage is, the ‘bridge’ camera has a much wider zoom; in this particular case, I’m using FujiFilm FinePix S4500 model; and, it has a massive 30 x zoom!

Sweet capture! He’s beautiful and looks a lot like the stray I feed.

  • Thanks a lot for the comment. That’s really good of you to go feed stray cats. I guess, we tend to throw a few kitchen scraps out there every now and there; no wonder nextdoor neighbours cats love being in our garden so much; just wish they wouldn’t use our gardent as a toilet, though; as sometimes you want to go out there and walk! ;-)
