female nude/peaceful recliner -(140811)- copy of photo/pencil/A4 by

I recall I was looking at ‘female nude’ drawings on the net by artist, Gustav Klimt…

…and, it left me with a sudden and irresistible urge to go draw.

Surfing through my list of Favourites here on RedBubble, I found…

…which I then tried copying using both pencil/and, almost A4 sized sketchbook.

You have done a wonderful job. Please don’t refer to yourself in a derogatory way, I love this. You have caught the essence of the shot completely. :)))))

  • Thanks! ;-) So glad that you are NOT offended by me ‘trying’ to copy your online photo.

    lovely drawing Paul

  • Thanks, Euan! Still trying hard to work out how to draw something, properly…; so that it looks like it?!

    wonderful drawing Paul

  • Thanks! ;-) Unfortunately, all I can see is…there is the photo/there is the drawing: thus, quite clearly, proving the drawing is NOT like the photo.

Paul, this is a great drawing! And I like the writing on the side, somehow it completes composition.

  • Thanks! ;-) I decided to add the URL address of the photo that I copied for two reasons; 1, to acknowledge where my source came from/and, who was the true author of the pose; 2, I also wanted people to be able to see the ‘original’ photo itself.

Love the style of work you have used here. This is a beautiful piece of art.

  • Thanks! ;-) I wanted it to look like Renoir; an artist whose work I do greatly admire; ha, some chance…

You should create more serious drawings!

  • Thanks! ;-) I haven’t been practicing in a while, unfortunately. I allow myself to get far too quickly and easily disillusioned; by setting far too high goals for myself to be able to achieve; and, then, when I look back at what I’ve just gone and drawn; seeing it’s nowhere near as good as what I was actually aiming at; I sort of think to myself why bother; might as well quit, as I just don’t have enough ‘talent’ to be able to achieve exactly what it is I wanted.

  • Truth is though; that maybe anybody can learn to draw well; or, at least, their work can improve from where it currently is…simply by practicing more and more. Hopefully, I will make this my New Year’s Resolution to draw, at least, one thing for each and every single day. Though, I’m sure, I most probably made that same NYR before…and, never did manage to keep it ever! Still, it’s worth a try…even if it helps me get a few more drawing done…until when I become totally disillusioned again; and, again, decide to quit!

    Great work Paul

  • Thanks! ;) Frankly, she looks nothing like the photo that I went and copied; but, I guess, drawing…even a wrong drawing…still has certain charms of its own.
