    Well done!!!

  • Thanks for your appreciation! ;-) When you are ‘talented’, you can do much with really very little effort, apparently. However, when you are like me, and, most definitely, NOT talented; then, you struggle like hell to be able to achieve exactly what others can do who are more far skillful than you are…and, you feel like you’ll just never ever can get there?! I was originally hoping this would turn out to be something like Matisse; but, far from it, I’m afraid. Maybe, I had better set my goals to reach far lower; instead, of always aiming to go reach up and touch the stars! I suppose you could say it’s simple, and, has it’s own unique ‘cartoon-like’ style; but, I don’t want that, I always wanted an art that looks ‘real’; like your own art does, for instance. You can do that because you’re skilled. I need to learn how to develop such skill.

    Paul
It saddens me to read you … art history is full of former employees of different kinds of talents…but we must work hard, searching and searching!

  • For me art is always difficult; I think, it’s because I tend to be ‘perfectionist’; and, I just can’t see perfection in anything I do…not now/not never?! But, it’s something I’m slowly learning to accept that I’ll probably never get to where I really want to be concerning art. Nevertheless, I do enjoy just merely the business of self-expression; which for me is a very important ‘need’. Art let’s me express myself…but, just never to the kind of absolute ‘perfection’ that I was originally hoping for. It’s my own fault, for not having more patience to go and study forms/anatomy/muscles/-etc. I have ADD-Attention Deficit Disorder leading to very low attention span; so, for me, it’s very difficult to remain fully concentrated on studying; I usually get bored/distracted and then go off and do something else entirely different, instead; even though I brought tons of teach yourself art books; there are few of these that I ever actually read straight through from cover to cover; and, even fewer still where I actually went and practiced carrying out any of the lessons contained therein! My problem is I like to work far too fast; if only I could learn to slow down a bit; then, maybe, my art works would be able to improve. Instead, of finishing it in a minute/to 10 minutes/up to 1/2 an hour; I need to find enough patience to stay with it for whole days/weeks…until I can get it exactly how I wanted.

I can well understand you because I too am a perfectionist, perfectionist and baroque, but I am very patient and I do not mind working months in a work … but usually I work 3 works at the same time, I get bored of one and work in another…

Have you experienced work several works of art at the “same” time?

  • Actually, with ADD-Attention Deficit Disorder; I tend to do multiple things at once; in fact, far too many things at once taking on far more than I can actually manage; meaning, I usually only start things; but, do hardly ever finish them; such as attempting to go read 10 or more library books all at once; in the end, I give up, with all the books being left unread!

In regards to art, I will usually work only on one single piece, at at time; but, sometimes, I try working on more than one piece; especially, if I get fed up of doing one that’s taking far too long!

It’s good that you have patience; because patience is a very difficult lesson, indeed, for me to go learn.

The truth is, I’m disorganised, and, also, extremely lazy; it’s not that I can’t do it; it’s more that I won’t/don’t! I guess, that makes me extremely stubborn and stuck in my ways; doing a sort of constant self-sabotage!

Please, you should not be so demanding on yourself!
In Spanish we say “The best is the enemy of good” and is a great truth!

  • That’s a good saying… ;-) LOL
