DATE: Tue 26 Mar 2013
MEDIUM: A5 sketchpad/blue biro pen
DESCRIPTION: Hopped over to Yahoo seach engine; then, typed in search term: Pigeon; I decided to have a go at drawing one of the photo references.

WHY PIGEONS? I particularly like pigeons; because they are our most common sort of bird; people see them in the streets for each and every single day/as well as, inside of my own backgarden. However, drawing them is something else; because like all truly ‘wild’ animals; they never ever keep ‘still’; but, instead, tend to ‘move’, constantly. Thus, drawing pigeons from a photo is a hell of a lot easier than it is to try drawing them IRL/In Real Life!

TECHNICAL CHALLENGE: I don’t find it very easy drawing birds; especially so when one doesn’t understand their anatomy. I mean, instead, of drawing actual feathers; I end up instead drawing just merely loads of dense scribbly squiggles; which, I think, is not a proper representation of the animal at all…?!

ARTISTIC LICENCE NOTE: The bird being shown inside of the photo, was just merely standing around on the ground; but, instead, I decide to liven things up a bit…by using ‘artistic licence’ to add a stick for it to go perch on top of; too, I’ve added in an abstract scribbled background; whereas, the original background was just all plain ‘boring’ white.
