Very nice Paul – love the threads around the fingers

  • Thanks! ;-) It has taken me, quite literally, years and years learning how to draw hands…; and, frankly, I still can’t even do it properly, yet?! There are so many different perspectives that hands can be drawn from; and, with each different perspective hands look different; front/back/sides: left/right; and, in some perspectives you can’t even see any fingers…maybe, just the back of the hand/or else, palm; in another perspective you only see 1 or 2 fingers; but, not the rest. Frankly, I find drawing hands to be hell on earth! I still need to go and study…then, commit to memory all of the bone structure/muscle/nerves…??? Got an awfully long LONG way to go before I can ever truly say I ‘understand’ hands; nevermind, can actually draw it correctly, yet.

I love hands and they are not easy. When I do life drawing I like to concentrate on the hands – if I can “get” the hands the rest follows, though I don’t get them all the time

  • I call it ‘hand hell! LOL For me, that’s how impossible it is to get, right…??? I’m sure, I must by now have drawn quite literally 100’s/possibly, 1000’s of hands; and, got not ‘one’ right ,yet?! Maybe, it’s impatience; I don’t have time to get down all of those endless details; so, instead, I just hurry it…which, usually, results in an inevitable whole series of mistakes..! Somebody told me only just recently; an artist who I admire on here…SLOW down. I think, it must be a matter of temperament; I find I can’t stop rushing to finish up real quick; before all of my attentions just goes.
